New Caledonian Sandalwood Absolute — Rare Pacific Heartwood

New Caledonian sandalwood, Santalum austrocaledonicum, grows on the remote Pacific archipelago of New Caledonia, where extensive historical logging has left very few wild trees remaining. This absolute is solvent extracted from the distilled heartwood essential oil itself — a re-extraction that concentrates and deepens the aromatic profile beyond what the essential oil alone provides, yielding a richly complex material of considerable rarity.

Sharing its genus with the celebrated Indian sandalwood (Santalum album), New Caledonian sandalwood offers a related but genuinely distinct character — creamy and warmly woody, with a pronounced vanillic sweetness reminiscent of maple syrup and brown sugar that gives it a gourmand-adjacent dimension few other sandalwood materials achieve.
