This product is made using traditional methods. Its essence is considered very simple and pure. The key ingredients of Bakhoor perfume oil includes Oud, musk and certain floral & wood extracts which are often a closely guarded trade secret.
It’s benefits and applications
Bakhoor Natural Perfume or Attar is a natural perfume free from alcohol, preservatives and chemical additives. It has been produced in India and the Middle East for perhaps thousands of years. The Oil is extracted from the wooden chips of fragrant trees, commonly the Mimusops elengi Maulsari tree, through a complex process of hydro distillation . This amazing perfume bears a unique soft floral and musk fragrance which is difficult to describe but has a relaxing effect on the senses.
The word Attar is derived from the Hindu/Urdu word Ittar which in turn derives from the similar Persian word for Perfume, Itar, and is an essential oil derived from botanical sources usually blended with a wood oil like, but not always, Sandalwood.
The practice of extracting scent from flowers herbs and spices began in India and has been used there for at least 700 years by skilled artisans to produce exquisite fragrances with some attars actually improving with age like a good wine. The ageing period can last from one to ten years depending on the botanical used and the results desired. Most commonly these oils are extracted via hydro or steam distillation and generally natural perfumes which qualify as Attars are distilled with water rather than by chemical means and they are also alcohol free. Attars are a luxury and in ancient times were used in offerings to the gods.
For thousands of years, ittars were considered in some societies to be something that attracted angels and warded off evil spirits. Saints and spiritual aspirants would adorn themselves with these scents to assist them in their journey towards enlightenment.
