Organic Patchouli Leaf Essential Oil is gently steam distilled from the lush green leaves of the bushy Pogostemom cablin herb which is cultivated in the tropical rainforests of Indonesia. It has earthy, sensual and ethereal top notes with mellow, woody-balsamic undertones.
The aromatic profile of some essential oils improve with age like a good wine and Patchouli is one of best. Patchouli Oil’s sensual and exotic aroma mellows with aging, and in time a musky, rich character develops in the oil.
In natural perfumery Patchouli Oil is widely used as an excellent perfume fixative. Such a fixative is a necessary component of a perfume. Patchouli with its deep rich scent has the power of holding top and middle notes to the skin for a long time. Patchouli Oil is also used in many skincare and cosmetic products.
Pure Absolute Oils or Essential Oils should always be diluted with a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil before using on the skin. A patch test is recommended to see if your skin is sensitive to the product. With a dilution it is not necessary to dilute the oil as it is already diluted and can be used straight on the skin although a patch test is still recommended.
