Camphor Pure Essential Oil

Price range: £4.95 through £39.00

Description

Camphor Essential Oil (Cinnamomum camphora ct. camphor)

Origin: Native to East Asia, particularly Japan, Taiwan, and China. The oil is steam-distilled from the wood, stumps, and leaves of the camphor tree, which belongs to the Lauraceae (laurel) family. Camphor has been used in aromatic traditions for thousands of years across Asian cultures and was historically one of the most highly prized and traded aromatic substances. The camphor tree is the same species as ho wood (Cinnamomum camphora ct. linalool), but this chemotype is dominated by camphor rather than linalool, producing a vastly different oil. White camphor (the first distillation fraction) is the grade used in aromatic work – brown and yellow camphor fractions are not suitable for general use.

Scent: Sharp, cool, and intensely camphoraceous with a clean, penetrating freshness. Bold and bracing – there’s a strong, minty, eucalyptus-like quality balanced by a dry, woody undertone. Slightly bitter and resinous with a faint, sweet, balsamic depth. Powerful, assertive, and immediately recognisable – a classic, crisp and piercing aromatic scent.

Uses:

  • Valued in natural perfumery as a sharp, camphoraceous accent – adds a cool, bracing freshness and intensity to blends
  • A distinctive addition to diffuser blends, bringing a fresh, crisp atmosphere to any space
  • Used in candle making and soap crafting for its bold, clean, aromatic character
  • Used in natural household products for its strong, fresh scent profile
  • Blends well with eucalyptus, rosemary, lavender, frankincense, cedarwood, lemon, peppermint, and basil oils
  • Popular in artisan fragrance work for fresh, aromatic, and herbaceous compositions

Important Information:

  • For External Use only
  • Only white camphor oil should be used in aromatic work – brown and yellow camphor contain higher levels of safrole and are not suitable for general use
  • Camphor oil is very potent – always use sparingly and dilute well with a suitable carrier oil before applying to skin
  • Not recommended for use on young children
  • Consult a qualified medical professional before use if you have any pre-existing medical conditions
  • Perform a patch test before use
  • Consult a qualified professional before use if pregnant or nursing
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets
  • Store in a cool, dark place to preserve freshness
