Orris Resinoid Absolute is extracted from the roots ( rhizomes) of the Iris pallida which is cultivated in China. The mature rhizomes of the plant produce Irones which gives the distinctive powdery notes of Orris. The higher the concentration of irones the stronger the powdery note will be. This is a very well produced Orris Absolute and contains 15% of Irones making it highly prized for use as a fixative in perfumery and for its violet like notes. In its pure state this material is so viscous it borders on solid but with the addition of ETH this makes it pourable and a lot easier to work with.

All pure absolutes such as this oil are now rare and extremely concentrated by nature. They should be properly evaluated in a diluted state otherwise, the complexity of the fragrance, particularly the rare and exotic notes are not properly appreciated.
